On Saturday 27th May the Boules Masters 2017 was played out in warm sunshine in Monymusk Square for the 5th year running. Once again it proved to be a fun day for both the 40 teams and the community. All 185 players were in fancy dress and music was provided by Dave Martin on his French accordion and the Atholl Smith Jazz Band.

The Monymusk Boules Masters came about following the boys in the McArthur family (Neil, his son, son-in-law, 3 nephews, and 3 cousins) playing boules in Wells in 2012. The following year the boys decided that Neil ought to organise a similar competition in Monymusk where he lives – this was intended to be a one off event!

Neil McArthur, event organiser and NEAT Board Member said “For me this was another successful event. Everyone enjoyed the day and I would just like to thank the huge team of volunteers who once again rose to the occasion in so many ways. We made a surplus of £4,900, bringing the rolling total up to just over £31,200, all this money has gone to local and other deserving good causes. Thanks also to the residents of Monymusk Square”.

NEAT is extremely grateful to Neil and all his volunteers and supporters for their kind donation of £700 which will be used as part of NEAT’s Theatre In School project.
