NEAT is pleased to announce that Neil McArthur has been awarded a BEM for his services to his community in the New Year’s Honours list.

Neil has been a dedicated volunteer, trustee and a board member of several charities over the years. These include include Cancer Research Campaign, Cancer Research UK, CRANES (Cancer Research Aberdeen and North East Scotland, Marie Curie, CLIC Sargent and CLAN. His devotion and enthusiasm for charitable work still burns brightly and we hope this continues for many years to come.

Monymusk park was transformed in 2015 when Neil led a campaign to raise £75,000 for new playground equipment for residents and visitors to enjoy.

In addition to supporting local and national charities Neil also runs an Annual Boules Tournament in Monymusk with £32,000 so far shared between local good causes.

Neil said: “I was astonished and very humbled to be given this absolute honour. This is for all the folk around me that have given me the time and space to do all the things I do.”
