Live Life Aberdeenshire’s Youth Music Initiative programme is seeking innovative musicians and artists to deliver two new and exciting projects…

The deadline for applications has been extended to midnight Sunday 5th February 2023

Project 1 – Macduff Marine Aquarium

1 musician, 1 artist, 1 filmmaker

To celebrate the 20th year of Aberdeenshire’s YMI Programme in a unique way, the aim of this project is to showcase Macduff Marine Aquarium through music and creativity. The aquarium, itself recently celebrating its 25th year, is a popular tourist attraction that has just won the 2022 Best Visitor Experience in the Aberdeen City and Shire Tourism Awards as well as being a centre of learning where visitors of all ages can explore and celebrate the local marine environment.

We are excited to see innovative ways to utilise an aquarium to make music-making more accessible, enjoyable, fun and meaningful. Within those parameters, this project will demonstrate that young people are strong contributors to local communities through cultural activity. This celebration of Aberdeenshire’s extraordinary cultural contributions will culminate in a new piece of music, an end-of-project event and a high-quality case study in the form of a film, marking the 20th Year of YMI in Aberdeenshire.
