NEAT is delighted to have received a funding award from The Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund managed by Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action. The fund was made available as part of the Scottish Government’s Recovery and Renewal Fund, for the delivery of the commitments set out in the Mental Health Transition and Recovery Plan.

As an organisation we have become increasingly aware of the affect the pandemic has had on people’s wellbeing. Over the years working in smaller communities that have little access to the arts we have found that people’s mental health is hugely benefited by creative engagement, particularly those which encourage connection with others. Through the scheme in Aberdeenshire, we aim to;

  • Set up creative wellbeing support groups who programme mental health themed shows and workshops that highlight positive mental health and wellbeing.
  • Provide a voice for people with lived experience to influence arts and culture provision in relation to equality, diversity, and inclusion
  • Provide opportunities for artists and creative practitioners to support the recovery and wellbeing of others through their own lived experiences.

The project starts in April 2022 and more information will be announced in March 2022 on how you can get involved.
