Story Ceilidh
Sunday 31 May 2015 @ 7:30 pm
By Alexandria Patience
Story Ceilidh is a multi-themed storytelling performance using mainly traditional Scottish stories and live original music. Alexandria Patience is the storyteller – originally from Fraserburgh but with fisher family connections to the Black Isle and to Lewis. She is now living in the Far North. Music is created by multi-instrumentalist, Donald McNeill on keyboard, guitar, mandola, fiddle and banjo. No show is exactly the same since the venue and location inspires the selection of stories and in true storytelling style – it also infuses the telling. Story themes cover: humour, love, the past, the second sight, local events, social history, selkies, the sea, the fishing, betrayal, innocence, morality, folk tales, spey wives, body snatchers, relationships – all aspects of life, but I connect the themes to the community I am performing in.
