Journey Around My Tenement

Stark Theatre Collective

Three distinct voices speak from inner-city confinement

A Journey Around My Tenement is a theatrical online experience featuring three carefully crafted and adapted-for-screen monologues written and performed by three Strathclyde-based dramatists who previously worked on an adaptation of Xavier De Maistre’s diaries ‘A Journey Around My Room’. In the original, an 18 century courtier was placed under house arrest for 6 weeks. The similarities between then and now have brought the dramatists back together to tell the story of three households living up one stairwell. A Journey Around My Tenement visits three characters alone at home and asks ‘how does solitude affect our fears, anxieties, dreams, and desires?’
